The Talk…Almost

While doing some high-quality internet surfing, I came across a picture of a woman who attached her baby to the train of her wedding dress and dragged her down the aisle.  Of course the photo was being obnoxiously shared and furiously debated on Facebook. Stephen, seeing my horrified expression, rushed over and said “what, what?”  I showed him the picture and asked him what he thought. “That’s just weird,” he said, making a face.  Then, a strange puzzled look appeared.  “WAIT!  How can she even have a baby if she’s not married yet!?  That makes no sense!!  How does she even have a baby?”  He asked, shaking his head in bewilderment. I was proud that we’re winning the culture war and taught him well about the foundations of marriage and family.  But I guess he should be clued in on reality. “Stephen, people who aren’t married can have babies, too.  They have babies the same way married people do,” I said. He just looked more confused.  “She must be adopted,” he concluded. “Well,” I hedged, not in the mood for The Talk, especially on the heels of learning about the uterus.  “The baby isn’t necessarily adopted.  But you should be married before having babies.  Don’t worry about it.  Eat your snack.” I know, wussy mom moment, but I’ll tell him eventually!  (stop rolling your eyes!)
