Skills

Stephen told me that if he works hard in school and listens, he gets skills.  Being a Napoleon Dynamite fan, I couldn’t pass up such a golden opportunity.

“What kind of skills?”  I asked.  “Liger drawing skills?  Nunchuck skills?”

“No, Mom,” he said, rolling his eyes (that starts young!).  “Just regular skills.  Regular color skills.”

“Colors?”  I asked.  “I didn’t know skills had colors.  What colors are your skills?”

“Like red, yellow, green.  And they taste like grape.”

“Your skills have colors AND tastes?  Wow, that’s cooler than the skills they were teaching in the 80’s.  I’ve never heard of skills with tastes and colors…wait a minute…do you mean skittles?”

Stephen rolled his eyes again.  “Yeah, Mom.  That’s what I said!  Skills!  They’re really yummy!”

Well duh, Mom.  What other kind of “skills” would you get in Kindergarten?

HAHAHA! I love it! When I got to the “taste like grape” comment, I realized he meant “skittles”, but it’s so funny how he was rolling his eyes the whole time. I would not have passed up the Napoleon comment either. I miss you!
